Ongoing Projects
Gooney Box Restorations
It is the duty of every ham radio operator to acquire as many radios as possible. To this end, I must do everything in my power to prevent boat anchors from ending up in the scrap pile. One such project is a collection of 1950's vintage Gonset Communicators in 6 and 2 meter flavors.
Johnson Viking II CDC Restoration
The E. F. Johnson company made top notch communications equipment and the Viking II was no exception. The CDC (Civil Defense Communications) model was used by the government agencies for emergency communications during the cold war. This unit was pulled from a transmitter block house slated for demolition and should be back on the air shortly.

A particularly interesting area of development we are exploring is cracking plastic molecules using pyrolysis. A bench scale device has been built and successfully converted linear polyethylene into wax and then light oil suitable for use in a Diesel engine.
